Prior to the birth of Abrahamic religions, Africa was culturally, structurally, academically, and spiritually a rich continent,a continent that birthed the fathers on medicine, architecture, mathematics, language and more now sees Catholicism growing fastest on the continent – from 45 million in 1970 to 176 million in 2012.

As Pope Francis flew into Nairobi, where fossils found suggested that primates roamed the area more than 20 million years ago predating Catholicism, Kampala and Bangui we were all reminded of the staggering figures.
