Cubeyda Hassan Jama a 19-year-old man of London Road, Thornton Heath, London, who was arrested at Stansted Airport has been charged with terrorism offences.
He was charged under the Terrorism Act 2006, “engaging in conduct in preparation for giving effect to intention to commit acts of terrorism”.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
The Act was drafted in response to the aftermath of the 7/7 London bombings in 2005 and was announced by Tony Blair, “… there will be new anti-terrorism legislation in the Autumn. This will include an offence of condoning or glorifying terrorism”.
